Nitia is a small table lamp in plastic and steel with reflected
light. The design plays with statics and the unexpected
formal composition of overlapping volumes. Throughout
his career as a designer, Bonetto essentially focused on
the search to translate industrial shapes and materials into
commonly used objects. Nitia is the result of his passion
for cars and engines.
The first sketches highlight the
combination of pure geometric aspects - the cylinder and the
sphere - which the designer then transformed with a final cut
to create an adjustable optical compartment. The three holes
in the optical body were inspired by the automotive industry.
They prevent the lamp from overheating - a trick also used in
the cars of the time.
